Article by MicrosoftMS

Stock photography websites provide licensed version of all the images used to fulfil the needs of unique assignments. This is more helpful for instant needs instead of hiring a photographer. Today, one can easily search for stock images in online databases. Stock images can be purchased and illustrate online. All images are produced in studios using professionals models posing, stereotypes, expressing emotions, sceneries or involving pets, etc.

There are now plenty of online largest traditional stock photography agencies in terms of revenue like Getty Images, Corbis and Veer, Istock, Shutterstock, Bigstockphoto, Fotolia, Dreamstime, Depositphotos, etc.. They mostly offer photographs which are shot by professional photographers. There are many more small alternative photo agencies as well which specialize in fields of stock photography. These are online, royalty free, international microstock photography.

Stock photos are not usually free, however some companies offer free images on every week or every month or every day as well. They are not free, means you can not use it without purchasing a license and place it in the public domain. Royalty-free means, you are paying each time you use an image.
